 Powieści Lisy See uwielbiam! Choć przyznam szczerze,że "Na złotej górze" nie zrobiło na mnie wrażenia.Może dlatego,że jest zbyt osobista. Tym razem mamy trzy bohaterki: Grace, Ruby i Helen. Wszystkie trzy inne. Ruby jest pół Japonką co czyni ją zagrożeniem dla Ameryki.
      Nasze bohaterki są tancerkami. Tańczą. I sztuka ta wydaje się dla nich ucieczką.
Wszystkie doznają upokorzenia, zdrady. Jest i miłość- dwie kochają się w jednym, jest i zemsta, która wydaje się i tak łagodna w obliczu krzywd jednej z bohaterek.
Trudno nam osądzać bohaterki. Tym razem Lisa pokazuje nam dystans. My same jako czytelniczki nie czujemy do nich przyjaźni. Widzimy ich zagubienie, bezradność i samotność.
A także tęsknoty za tym za czym tęsknimy wszyscy.
Lisa opisuje Amerykę nieprzyjazną a jednocześnie bezradną i silną wobec Japonii.
I jak byli traktowani Chińczycy- można by rzec,że nikt ich nie odróżniał.
       Powieść bardzo smutna a jednocześnie pełna nadziei.

I love Lisa See's novel! Although I must admit that "The golden mountain" did not make me wrażenia.Może because it is too personal. This time we have three heroines: Grace, Ruby and Helen. All three others. Ruby is half Japanese which makes it a threat to America.
Our heroines are dancers. They dance. And this art seems to be for them to escape.
